Available observational data (DWD)

Find out about DWD observation data sets available for project partners.

Agreement

  • The project partners of the BMBF funding priority "Research for Climate Protection and Protection from Climate Impacts" will get access to various observation data from the German Meteorological Service (Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD).
  • Besides the climatological measurements of meteorological parameters, some phenomenological observation data are available too.
  • The observations will be provided as station related measurements.  Note, that depending on the starting date of recording (between 1900 and 1960), the historical data sets have different lengths.
  • The station data will be available via a web based data service using the WebWerdis web environment.
  • WebWerdis provides monthly, daily and hourly values of several observations like e.g. precipitation, temperature, wind and others.
  • Phenomenological data is not included in WebWerdis but will be made available on request (via ftp or shipped on disk).
  • The direct path to the download system  WebWerdis .
  • Information about available data can be downloaded here (german only): (pdf) flyer-DWD-daten

   Please note, that:

  • The access to this data is restricted to the project partners having signed an explicit admission agreement (see below). Each joint project will be registered as 'organization', while the individual project partners of the joint projects will be regarded as members of this 'organization'. Please contact SGA for further details on the WebWerdis login.
  • The emission of  data products such as maps of certain parameters is in discussion. For these special data products an explicit arrangement with the DWD might be mandatory.
  • Download here the (pdf) admission agreement (german only) as pdf-file.
